During his six years on Saturday Night Live, Jimmy Fallon was known for his impressions and musical abilities (and, to a lesser extent, for cracking up laughing in the middle of sketches). Those talents seamlessly carried over into his stint as host of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, so it's no surprise that he belted out a pretty awesome parody of Pearl Jam's signature anthem "Jeremy" amidst the sudden media frenzy surrounding the emergence of New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin. Donning a wig and channeling the angst of '90s grunge rock, Fallon did a spot-on impersonation of Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder. The final result was an impressive parody that we felt we had to dissect line by line. Below are the lyrics to Late Night's ode to Linsanity, alongside the corresponding lyrics to Pearl Jam's "Jeremy." Enjoy! |

Jimmy Fallon's "Jeremy Lin" Parody Lyrics At home Shooting free throws And three-point shots Waiting for a job Name not yet a pun Carmelo injury Came out of nowhere like an Asian Tebow The Knicks were 8 and 15 Oh, and before that no one really cared Now Jeremy is winning And the Knicks don't suck Jeremy Linsanity Jeremy Linsanity Clearly I remember Pickin' on the boy Seemed a little Harvard nerd Oh, and he beat Kobe Bryant Set a screen And took it to the hole to show That Asian men can drive And he hit them with a surprise three The crowd went crazy Now he's famous Just turned down a date With Kim Kardashian Spike Lee's on the sideline cheering, yeah And tickets to a game cost 800 bucks Now that the Knicks are winning It's a miracle Jeremy Linsanity Jeremy Linsanity Try to bank this Try to bank this Try to bank this Try to bank this Off the backboard Jeremy Linsanity |
Pearl Jam's Original "Jeremy" Lyrics At home Drawing pictures Of mountain tops With him on top Lemon yellow sun Arms raised in a V And the dead lay in pools of maroon below Daddy didn't give attention Oh, to the fact that mommy didn't care King Jeremy the wicked Ruled his world Jeremy spoke in class today Jeremy spoke in class today Clearly I remember Pickin' on the boy Seemed a harmless little f*** Oh, but we unleashed a lion Gnashed his teeth And bit the recess lady's breast How could I forget And he hit me with a surprise left My jaw left hurting Dropped wide open Just like the day Oh, like the day I heard Daddy didn't give affection, no And the boy was something that mommy wouldn't wear King Jeremy the wicked Ruled his world Jeremy spoke in class today Jeremy spoke in class today Try to forget this Try to forget this Try to erase this Try to erase this From the blackboard Jeremy spoke in class today |
